I’ve always been drawn to painting women at rest. Not because life is always calm, but because moments of true stillness have become increasingly rare. A woman settling into a chair, morning light filtering through a room, the gentle pause between conversations—these fleeting moments often pass unnoticed, yet they hold a quiet beauty.

As women, we spend so much of our lives caring for others, planning ahead and moving from one responsibility to the next. Stillness is a reflection on the importance of simply being. It is a reminder that rest isn’t something to be earned, but something we all deserve.

Created using layers of acrylic and oil stick, the soft tonal palette and expressive brushwork invite a sense of calm, allowing the figure to become less about an individual and more about a feeling—a moment of peace that the viewer can step into.
